Excellent sound quality,
three bonus tracks, lyrics to all songs, some pictures and generous
thanks to fans who helped make this CD possible. The Swedish
CD was sold at the Virtual X-Mas Party 13 Dec 1997 in Lund, Sweden
(wrongly stating that it includes two additional extended bonus
tracks.) (I wrote the liner notes for this Swedish CD by the
way.) My only complaints about this CD are that it should have
more bonus tracks: Cite phosphore, Saturdays in Silesia (single
remix), Pile ou face, and the two extended versions. Tracy made
some edits on some of the tracks, here are his comments from
24/7/97: "On 'Just a Sound in the Night' I chopped 4 bars
out of the intro because it was always too long. And on 'I Want
to See the Light' I did three cuts to the middle section and
lead-in to the outro which basically just removed some repetitive
junk. I think these cuts make the track tighter and should have
been done in the first place."

Note: this extended version was
done in Holland without RYs' knowledge or approval. It was simply
edited from the existing version, but it is not to be considered
as a genuine RY mix since they had nothing to do with it.

(Dutch CD: Rams Horn, RHR 02-7137)
Although three bonus tracks
and three extended versions are included, Rams Horn could have
put much more effort into the booklet: apart from some credits,
no info whatsoever is included, no discography, no photos, no
nothing. I also don't understand why the track running order
had to be changed from the original LP. The sound is less than
acceptable: it has a generally dull sound and audible vinyl surface
noise, making your ears tired and unattending. This CD is also
very hard to find unless you order it. Conclusion: Rational Youth
would never have approved of this CD.

A great-sounding collection with
a lot of care and love put into the booklet: The story of RY
(albeit short), comments from Tracy himself on every track included,
musician credits, discography (not as detailed as this though!),
black and white photos of RY, live posters and a primitive lyrics
sheet, and finally full colour pictures of every RY release!
Not bad! The only thing missing would be lyrics.
